Dear readers,
As you may have noticed, we have not posted any new content in the past few months. We have had several comments on that subject, and I would like to address that here. As the founder and editor of Reading For The Glory, the majority of the content that we have produced over the last few years has come from my own pen. We do have a team of contributors who have written content for us in the past couple of years. However, the bulk of the writing content falls on my shoulders. Additionally, in January we launched the RFTG Podcast, the first season of which ran through the end of May. While we received good feedback on the podcast, the amount of work it takes to produce, edited, and publish a weekly podcast is enormous. Even with our excellent podcast editor Chris Wheeler shouldering a big chunk of the burden with me, that project proved too much to handle on top of the written content as well as my other personal and professional responsibilities.
For this reason, I took the summer months off from the work of RFTG to rest, read, reflect, and pray. As a result of this sabbatical the decision was made not to renew the RFTG Podcast for a second season (at least not at this time). We will keep the content of the podcast on our website and various other podcast platforms for the purpose of future enjoyment.
Also during this season I have been praying about the direction that Lord would like to take RFTG moving forward. During this time off I have renewed my love for reading, and not merely for the sake of writing an article, but for the beauty of the written word. I would like to continue to write reflections about books and the Christian life on this blog moving forward, however, not at the pace that we had set in the past. My plan at this time is to post at least once a month, with the hope to post articles that are more reflective and not simply advertising for the latest Christian books, even if they are good reads. I’d like to post about all kinds of books, even old books. The focus will be on the quality of content and not simply the quantity.
In addition, my family and I have been walking through a transition in regard to our denominational tradition within the Christian faith. My wife and I were both raised in the Baptist tradition (SBC). However, over the past several months we have joined the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA). The ACNA firmly stands in traditional Anglicanism, and is connected to Anglicans worldwide via the Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON). During this season of transition I’ve taken the time to read widely in the ancient and reformational Christian tradition and have had less time for writing/reviewing. I plan to have more posts about this moving forward, including a few book recommendations!
In the meantime, I look forward to having more content available on the website in the coming months. I hope you’ll join us.
Magna Dei Gloria!
